SkinPen by Crown Aesthetics is the first micro needling device cleared by the US FDA, clinically proven to safely and effectively treat Acne scars for the ages of 22 and up.

Microneedling may help with issues concerning Acne, Hair Loss, Hyperpigmentation, Large pores, Reduced skin elasticity, Scars, Stretch marks, Sun damage, Fine lines and Wrinkles.

Medical Micro Needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) stimulates an important cell, the fibroblast, in the lower layer of the skin to increase the production of new, healthy collagen. The newly formed collagen lends support and structure to the skin to help the signs of aging, sun damage, and acne scars.

Micro-Needling provides smoother, better looking skin via the introduction of ultra-fine needles penetrating thousands of microscopic holes in under an hour. SkinPen MicroNeedling is 100% natural! Unlike lasers or chemical peels, SkinPen treatments do not cause long-term damage to the skin (when properly spaced apart under the direction of a medical provider). Best of all there is virtually no downtime, with treated clients ready to return to their normal routine within just 1 to 3 days.

SkinPen stimulates your own body’s natural skin/wound healing process. The complete treatment series is clinically proven to QUADRUPLE collagen and elastin levels in treated skin, for as long as 6 months post-treatment. All by delivering highly controlled and minimally invasive micro-injuries into the skin (typically a fraction of a millimeter in depth). Which in turn powerfully stimulate skin cell renewal for weeks at a time.

The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact. According to studies, skin treated with four MicroNeedling sessions spaced one month apart produced up to a 400% increase in collagen and elastin for a FULL SIX MONTHS after completing the treatment series. For those looking to improve the look of scars, boost collagen and promote healthier skin, MicroNeedling might offer the best minimally invasive solution.

How it works;

Bellus Medical SkinPen device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cell damage. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin. More specifically, Medical Grade Micro Needling starts the three-phase wound-repair process

Phase 1: Inflammation, the body’s natural response to controlled micro injuries. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and create new tissue. After the micro channels has been inflicted, homeostasis begins – the blood vessels constrict and seal themselves off as the platelets create substances that form a clot and halt bleeding. Once homeostasis is achieved the blood vessels dilate, letting nutrients, white blood cells, antibodies, enzymes and other beneficial elements into the area to promote good wound healing. This is when someone would begin to experience the physical effects of inflammation swelling, pain, heat and redness.
Phase 2: Proliferation, the micro channels begins to be rebuilt with new, healthy granulation tissue. For the granulation tissue to be formed, the blood vessels must receive a sufficient supply of nutrients and oxygen. This new tissue is made up of a mixture of extracellular matrix and collagen, which allows for the development of a new network of blood vessels to replace the damaged ones (a process called angiogenesis).
In addition to developing granulation tissues, the body transforms damaged mesenchymal cells into fibroblasts, which serve as bridges that help cells move around. These fibroblasts begin to appear within three days and will secrete liquids and collagen. This secretion helps to strengthen the skin. During proliferation, the skin continues to grow stronger as the fibroblasts continually reorganize aiding in the development of new tissue and accelerate the healing process.
Phase 3: Remodeling, is the last stage of the wound healing process. It occurs after the micro channels have closed up. During this phase, the dermal tissues are overhauled to enhance their tensile strength and non-functional fibroblasts are replaced by functional ones. Cellular activity declines with time and the number of blood vessels in the area decreases and recede.
